Topstitching (long arm quilting) is a skill unto itself. I can do a small one, but I admit that even after years of quilting I can't do a larger one, so I hire out that portion of finish work.
In 2023, I took multiple quilts to a local shop for finishing in July. Most I didn't need until December but one I needed earlier. When I picked up the first quilt I was a little more than upset. The top stitching was so poor it ruined the look of the quilt. I had one quilt that had to be just right (my parents 50th wedding anniversary) A fellow teacher from Jones volunteered to take it on and complete it in a short period of time. But what about the others?
I asked around and Kimberly from Autumn Blush Boutique was recommended to me by several people. She graciously too on the task in a limited time frame. One quilt in particular (my soldiers suicide awareness quilt) she found the perfect top stitch for. Ribbons and hearts which were stitched in red, white and blue variegated thread. It was beautiful. That finishing touch is was just what this quilt needed to earn it a 1st and 4th place finish in different competitions.
In August 2024, she completed another quilt for me that when it was entered in the state fair took second.
Neither award would have been possible without the invaluable skill of a long-arm quilter with an eye for detail that Kimberly definitely has.
Kimberly does local quilts and she also will finish quilts mailed to her. If you are in need of great quilt finishes I wholeheartedly recommend her!
Oh! And she also makes beautiful dresses!!!
